The Ohio Micro Chuck is used in the Vent Drill to hold the 0.50mm, 0.60mm, 0.70mm, 0.80mm, #74, #69, #68 and 1/32" drills for vent clean-out work in the tire molds.

 

Kay-Zee Inc. can supply micro-chucks altered to hold #55 and #54 (1.30mm and 1.40mm) vent drills.  Do not use the #55 and #54 drills in the Vent Drill as it will cause serious damage to the motor.  (The Vent Drill is to be used for #74, #69, 0.60mm and 0.80mm vent drills for vent clean-out work).  Use a larger air motor for #55 and #54 drills.

 

Broken drills in molds are very expensive and cost considerable production time to remove.  Kay-Zee Inc. has tried to minimize drill bit breakage with the combination of the Vent Drill and the Micro-Chuck.  See TIPS for minimizing drill breakage.
